So when you have accomplished your holy rites, celebrate the praises of Allah, as you used to celebrate the praises of your fathers, yes, with far more heart and soul. There are men who say: “Our Lord! Give us (Your bounties) in this world!” but they will have no portion in the hereafter. (2:200)

Every soul shall have a taste of death: And only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object (of Life): For the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception. (3:185)

Let not the strutting about of the Unbelievers through the land deceive you: (3:196)

Little is it for enjoyment: Their ultimate abode is Jahannam: what an evil bed (To lie on)! (3:197)

If any one desires a reward in this life, in Allah’s (gift) is the reward (both) of this life and of the hereafter: for Allah is He that hears and sees (all things). (4:134)

What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. (6:32)

Leave alone those who take their religion to be mere play and amusement, and are deceived by the life of this world. But proclaim (to them) this (truth): that every soul delivers itself to ruin by its own acts: it will find for itself no protector or intercessor except Allah: if it offered every ransom, (or reparation), none will be accepted: such is (the end of) those who deliver themselves to ruin by their own acts: they will have for drink (only) boiling water, and for punishment, one most grievous: for they persisted in rejecting Allah. (6:70)

O you who believe! What is the matter with you, that, when you are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, you cling heavily to the earth? Do you prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter. (9:38)

Nor let their wealth nor their (following in) sons dazzle you: Allah’s plan is to punish them with these things in this world, and that their souls may perish in their (very) denial of Allah. (9:85)

Allah has purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Injil and the Qur`an: and who is more faithful to his covenant that Allah? Then rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded: that is the achievement supreme. (9:111)

Those who love the life of this world more than the Hereafter, who hinder (men) from the Path of Allah and seek therein something crooked: they are astray by a long distance. (14:3)

Strain not yours eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower your wing (in gentleness) to the believers. (15:88)

This because they love the life of this world better than the Hereafter: and Allah will not guide those who reject Faith. (16:107)

If any do wish for transitory things (of this life), We readily grant them- such things as We will, to such person as We will: in the end have We provided Jahannam for them: they will burn therein, disgraced and rejected. (17:18)

And keep your soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not yours eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; no obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds. (18:28)

Set forth to them the similitude of the life of this world: It is like the rain which we send down from the skies: the earth’s vegetation absorbs it, but soon it becomes dry stubble, which the winds do scatter: it is (only) Allah who prevails over all things. (18:45)

Wealth and sons are allurements of the life of this world: But the things that endure, good deeds, are best in the sight of your Lord, as rewards, and best as (the foundation for) hopes. (18:46)

Nor strain yours eyes in longing for the things We have given for enjoyment to parties of them, the splendour of the life of this world, through which We test them: but the provision of your Lord is the better and more enduring. (20:131)

What is the life of this world but amusement and play? But verily the Home in the Hereafter- that is life indeed, if they but knew. (29:64)

O mankind! Do your duty to your Lord, and fear (the coming of) a Day when no father can avail anything for his son, nor a son avail anything for his father. Verily, the promise of Allah is true: let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the chief Deceiver deceive you about Allah. (31:33)

It is not your wealth nor your sons, that will bring you nearer to Us in degree: but only those who believe and work righteousness- these are the ones for whom there is a multiplied Reward for their deeds, while secure they (reside) in the dwellings on high! (34:37)

O men! Certainly the promise of Allah is true. Let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the Chief Deceiver deceive you about Allah. (35:5)

When some trouble toucheth man, he crieth to his Lord, turning to Him in repentance: but when He bestoweth a favour upon him as from Himself, (man) does forget what he cried and prayed for before, and he does set up rivals to Allah, thus misleading others from Allah’s Path. Say, “Enjoy your blasphemy for a little while: verily you are (one) of the Companions of the Fire!” (39:8)

None can dispute about the Sings of Allah but the Unbelievers. Let not, then, their strutting about through the land deceive you! (40:4)

To any that desires the tilth of the Hereafter, We give increase in his tilth, and to any that desires the tilth of this world, We grant somewhat thereof, but he has no share or lot in the Hereafter. (42:20)

The life of this world is but play and amusement: and if you believe and guard against evil, He will grant you your recompense, and will not ask you (to give up) your possessions. (47:36)

Therefore shun those who turn away from Our Message and desire nothing but the life of this world. (53:29)

That is as far as knowledge will reach them. Verily your Lord knows best those who stray from His Path, and He knows best those who receive guidance. (53:30)

Know you (all), that the life of this world is but play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting and multiplying, (in rivalry) among yourselves, riches and children. Here is a similitude: How rain and the growth which it brings forth, delight (the hearts of) the tillers; soon it withers; you will see it grow yellow; then it becomes dry and crumbles away. But in the Hereafter is a Penalty severe (for the devotees of wrong). And Forgiveness from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure (for the devotees of Allah). And what is the life of this world, but goods and chattels of deception? (57:20)

O you who believe! Let not your riches or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. If any act thus, the loss is their own. (63:9)

Your riches and your children may be but a trail: but in the Presence of Allah, is the highest, Reward. (64:15)

Nay (behold), you prefer the life of this world; (87:16)

But the Hereafter is better and more enduring. (87:17)

And this is in the Books of the earliest (Revelation),- (87:18)

The Books of Ibrahim and Musa. (87:19)

Nay, nay! But you honor not the orphans! (89:17)

Nor you do encourage one another to feed the poor!- (89:18)

And you devour inheritance- all with greed, (89:19)

And you love wealth with inordinate love! (89:20)

And verily to Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. (92:13)

The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things), (102:1)

Until you visit the graves. (102:2)

But nay, you soon shall know (the reality). (102:3)

Again, you soon shall know! (102:4)

No, were you to know with certainly of mind, (you would beware!) (102:5)
